Rackspace is seeking an ambitious and experienced technology leader who exhibits a unique balance of technical wisdom and strong business acumen. This is the right role for someone who has deep expertise in cloud (AWS, Google Cloud Platform) products & APIs as well as leadership experience. This individual will become a trusted consultant to Rackspace customers, partnering to provide best practice recommendations around advanced cloud-based solutions as well as expert advice on existing workload migrations to the cloud.  This particular role is based in San Antonio, Texas.

Job Responsibilities

• Build and lead team of GCP solution architects and deployment engineers to help Rackspace secure the position as the leading managed service provider for GCP (or something like this)
• Perform Google Cloud Platform research that will allow for the optimal customer experience in advising how best to leverage products to most optimally serve complex, developercentric clients
• Obtain access to, and be expected to become an expert in this client’s control panel for coding, optimization, scaling, and cost advisory
• Work with leading-edge technology in the managed cloud space
• Capture and share ‘support on GCP’ learnings with internal security engineering teams
• Provide strategic, technological guidance to this high spend, critical accounts that will allow them to continually adjust and optimize their environments/solution to achieve their short and long-term business goals
• Help the customers evaluate which applications should be moved to the cloud, along with the appropriate associated timeline, by providing a practical roadmap and scalable methodologies for moving legacy application portfolios to GCP.
• Direct the team to conduct Perform thorough, professional, documented monthly environment audits for holistic guidance on the current performance levels and aptitude of the customer’s existing solutions set
• Work in tandem with the Sales representative and Service Delivery team to build the optimal future infrastructure that will adequately allow for our client’s internal adoption of a SOA
(service-oriented architecture) model and enable CI/CD
• Give guidance to, and collaborate with account team directly aligned to our clients, to impart education and training on GCP
• Ensure the close collaboration between the solution architects and deployment engineers to create an optimal customer experience (or something like this)
• Serve as a GCP ‘think-tank evangelist’ to Product, Marketing & Sales on critical customers’ needs so that we may continue to enhance our offerings, expertise and achieve broader
 

Qualifications

Requirements:
• Deep experience designing complex SaaS applications for cloud-scale reliability and scalability
• Guru-level experience with AWS and/or GCP products and APIs
• Expert-level software architect with experience across a variety of domains
• Deep development experience using a variety of languages and frameworks
• Expertise in AWS and/or GCP cost management and optimization
• Deep experience with AWS and/or GCP infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipeline design
• Expertise in operational monitoring and management tools (Nagios, Datadog, etc.)
• Deep experience with open-source software and solutions
• Capable of providing strategic technical advice at the executive level
• Customer-facing consulting experience in highly ambiguous environments
• Experience developing, deploying, and monitoring applications on the Windows operating system
• Strong knowledge of distributed computing threats and AWS and/or GCP security control
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills, both highly technical and non-technical
• Ability to work closely with non-technical stakeholders and executives
• Proven ability to drive strong business outcomes for customers, through inter-department
negotiations and influence
