Rackspace is seeking a AWS DevOps Engineer - Windows to join our team in Austin, San Antonio, or Remote.

With over 200+ AWS Certified Architects, we dedicate years of talent and knowledge at our customer’s issues to create winning solutions.  From architecting customer infrastructure to deploying it programmatically and supporting it long term, our DevOps Engineers get to create one-of-a-kind, cutting edge cloud solutions for our customers. 



  • Work with an awesomely talented and highly engaged team of engineers and relationship managers
  • Automate infrastructure and application deployment for Rackspace customers on AWS infrastructure
  • Take the customer from whiteboard to green SLA monitoring alert checks
  • Work with the customer to not only build and deploy their infrastructure, but also design and implement their application deployment methodologies
  • Use Cloud Formation to build and deploy repeatable environments for our customers
  • Develop tools and processes to improve customer and Racker lives
  • Educate customers and Rackers on best practices in terms of redundant architecture and application deployment workflows
  • During business hours, be an escalation point for our Support Engineers for highly complex issues
  • Develop repeatable process for team improvements
  • Work with the open source community to help deliver features and fixes for our most commonly used tools
  • Provide a continuous Fanatical Support experience for our customers
  • Be a force for change in the organization in regards to process, direction, and technical decisions


Required Qualifications: 

  • 2+ years experience as a a DevOps engineer.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate Certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire date)
  • Experience automating and orchestrating workloads across one or more public cloud providers
  • Automation experience with at least one configuration management system such as Chef (directly or via AWS OpsWorks), Puppet, Ansible, AWS Cloud Formation or Salt
  • Experience working with at least one of the following languages: Node.js, Python, PHP, Ruby, and Java
  • Proficient with git and git workflows
  • Proficient in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment
  • Experience working in an Agile, fast paced, DevOps environment
  • Knowledge (preferably experience) in deploying distributed, highly available applications
  • Ninja level Windows skills
  • Experience in the configuration, management, and troubleshooting of common web server, database, caching, and database services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audiences
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to quickly adapt to change
  • An ability to multi-task and work on multiple concurrent projects
  • At the manager’s discretion, additional experience may substitute for the degree requirement


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cloud hosting experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience with Amazon Web Services
  • Work within an Agile methodology, Scrum Master Certified
  • Expected to be constantly seeking opportunities to drive change and development to products, the team and processes
  • Certified Amazon Solutions Architect – Associate or higher
