    Our Systems Engineers get to build a stable and scalable platform for our most critical business applications. As a Network Engineer, you will design and implement the solutions that will drive shared success with our customers and our organization.

    In this role you will:

    • Work with an awesomely talented team
    • Design and build a network infrastructure for our internal Platform as a Service that support internal Rackspace development teams and critical business applications.
    • Support internal teams on multiple platforms including VMWare, AWS and OpenShift.
    • Automate provisioning and maintenance tasks for network infrastructure
    • Contribute to the architecture and development of full stack solutions, from whiteboard to green SLA’s
    • Develop tools and processes to improve customer and Racker lives
    • Educate on best practices in terms of redundant architecture and application deployment workflows



    Required Qualifications:

    • Experience administering F5 and Cisco technologies in enterprise environments
    • 2+ years professional network engineering experience
    • Experience working with Palo Alto networking gear preferred
    • Working knowledge to troubleshoot in all layers of the OSI model
    • Working knowledge of security best practices and intrusion detection
    • Experience architecting a large network (1000+ nodes in multiple networks and locations)
    • Excellent problem-solving skills with a desire to take on responsibility
    • Experience working in an Agile, fast paced, DevOps environment
    • Knowledge (preferably experience) in building distributed, highly available applications
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate technical issues to nontechnical and technical audience.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related technical field required and 3 +years of experience. At the manager’s discretion, additional experience may substitute for the degree requirement


    Guru (Preferred) Qualifications:


    • Automation experience with at least one configuration management system such as Puppet and Ansible
    • Experience working at least one of the following languages: Python, PHP, Ruby or groovy
    • Proficient with git and git workflows
    • Proficient in leveraging CI and CD tools to automate testing and deployment
    • Proficiency with Python, PHP, or Ruby
    • Experience building PaaS infrastructure (OpenShift, Kubernetes)
