PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for leading a team of migration engineers who help customersmigrate their workloads from legacy/traditional platforms. Runs an effective, efficient and high energy team to provide excellent customer ourcomes.
JOB COMPLEXITY: Oversee and maintain the high bar for quality in all migrations and projects executed by the team. Manage, mentor and develop a team of passionate AWS migration engineers during their day-to-day roles. Maintain a high level of engagement within the team, ensuring growth and Racker satisfaction in their contribution to the company mission is recognized. Work with leadership to communicate overall team status, effectiveness and readyiness. Contribute to the overall leadership and strategy for the group. Work with Engagement/Project Managers to provide timely status updates on project/engagement. Multi-task in an environment of changing priorities. Work within and above Agile teams. Work closely across all teams (support, solution architecture, etc) and peers to establish and follow best practices while solving customer problems. Continually expand knowledge in the areas of new technological developments and trends.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Proven experience building and managing a new team of engineers / technology professionals. Ability to work with remote / distributed organizations. Ability to collaborate with peers and present data clearly and concisely. High level of comfort communicating across internal and external stakeholders. Solid problem-solving abilities coupled with a bias for action. Experience working with a range of customers (SMB, MM and Enterprise). Demonstrated, strong analysis capabilities and logical data driven decision making. Prior experience in OS, networking and cloud architecture fundamentals. Prior knowledge for migrating OS workloads to AWS
Knowledge of core AWS products and services (e.g. VPC, EC2, S3, RDS, ELB). Understanding of migration concepts and mechanisms (e.g. The 6 R’s; synchronization mechanisms - block, image, file; sequencing and application grouping; landing zone/blueprints. General knowledge of areas of business operations beyond IT. Working knowledge of adjile.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 8-12 years in progressively more technical roles in support or IT professional services. Minimum 2-3 years managing distributed, technical teams. Minimum 3 years’ experience working explicitly in or with cloud technologies. For AWS: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate Level strongly desired. Experience of broader additional AWS Product sets such as EMR, Redshift, SQS, SNS, AWS IoT, API Gateway etc. products and their design/usage.
