Rackspace is seeking a senior level Windows Systems Engineer (SCCM) to join our team full time in our San Antonio or Austin office location.  We are seeking candidates with strong SCCM experience.

We are currently looking for a high-level Windows Engineer that can contribute to the architectural design of our global patching platform.  In this role you will collaborate to develop architectural frameworks for system development, maintenance, and enhancement efforts.  You will analyze systems and perform usability testing to enhance scalability and meet security requirements.

In this role you will:

  • Be responsible for cradle to grave possession of multiple systems that are critical to ongoing success of Rackspace and Fanatical Support.
  • Identify the gaps and needs for WSUS, SCCM and other patching requirements.
  • Implement automation to streamline workflow to minimize manual efforts.
  • Be responsible for staying aware of business issues as they impact overall project plans.
  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of hardware, software and networking systems.
  • Analyze systems and market trends to determine business requirements.
  • Ensure completeness and compatibility of the technical infrastructure to support system performance.
  • Be responsible for keeping informed of the latest, relevant technologies.
  • Follow and execute Rackspace change management by evaluating changes using RPN methods and develop MOPs for changes. 
  • Facilitate Root Cause Analysis sessions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:  

  • 5+ years of experience with Microsoft System Center, WSUS & Active Directory.
  • High level knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server 2008/R2, 2012/R2 & 2016.
  • Hands on technical experience deploying and supporting MSSQL and IIS in a large enterprise. environment.
  • T-SQL development and query tuning.
  • Troubleshooting of IIS 8.
  • Good working knowledge of PowerShell, VB scripting, or .NET
  • Data Analysis and reporting skills.
  • Bachelor's degree, or relevant experience, in business or computer science.
  • 2-4 Years project management experience.
  • Working knowledge of clustering, SAN, and networking.
  • Requires 7+ years experience as a Windows System Engineer.
  • Knowledge of MIS objectives and strategies.
  • Moderate technical knowledge in technology methodologies, design, and implementation.
  • General analytical and design skills at multi-product/multi-environment level.
  • PC’s, hardware equipment, various database and software applications, and networking systems. 

Guru (Preferred) Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hosting experience involving IIS and Microsoft SQL environments.
  • 3+ years of customer support experience.
  • 3+ years of SCCM experience.
  • Experience with Highly Available Windows Clusters.
  • Microsoft Certifications are highly preferred.
  • Advanced understanding of firewalls and load balancers is a plus.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field preferred.
  • MCSE Certification preferred. 

 

Role Requirements:

  • Someone excellent with Windows Server 2008-2012 R2 and 2016 experience beneficial.
  • Someone excellent with Microsoft SCCM 2012 & 2016 experience.
  • Ability to automate and have good understanding of PowerShell.
  • Ability to embrace what our customers are looking for instead of pushing for more flash.
  • The ability to document to a high standard.
  • A firm understand of PCI requirements and the auditing process.
  • This person should be focused and proactive to think outside the box to meet customized requests requiring complex automation.
