Overview & Responsibilities

As a Senior Licensing Manager, you serve as the life cycle owner for software licensing within your portfolio.  You will facilitate the full software license life cycle for complex software license models. Lead company-wide licensing initiatives to drive cost efficiencies or ensure accurate license reporting. Proactively assist sourcing with the contracting processes to negotiate the best agreements focused on quality and license management. Define the system and functional requirements to ensure license usage is captured accurately. Work with internal stakeholders to understand the expected software business purposes and usage trends. Perform data analysis of license usage to identify usage trends, costs changes, and other monthly metrics. Seek continuous improvement to make reporting processes more efficient and functional. Performs monthly and quarterly license usage reporting. Submission of financial transactions and subsequent review of supplier invoices. Executes supplier license reporting contract reviews and other financial controls.

In this role you will:

  • Work with product teams, finance, sourcing, accounting, legal and other departments to facilitate the full software license life cycle for both business processes and systems.
  • Serve as a consultant during software contract creation to define license reporting requirements and recommend reporting models.
  • Seek continuous improvement to reduce software expenses and make reporting processes more efficient and functional.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to understand the expected software business purposes and usage trends.
  • Use reporting tools, MS Excel, and MS SharePoint to perform monthly and quarterly license usage reporting for license providers.
  • Perform data analysis of license usage to identify usage trends, costs changes, and other monthly metrics.
  • Performance of licensing financial reporting controls (contract reviews, usage reporting reviews, and other financial controls).
  • Develop licensing reporting requirements and define the data elements necessary for accurate license reporting. Perform user acceptance testing to validate reports are accurate and complete.
  • Gain an understanding of data flows and the systems containing licensing data. Advise on system best practices to enable accurate license reporting. Work with SOX Compliance to develop and maintain reporting with appropriate ITGC SOX controls.

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Has a strong understanding of license usage reporting models and how those models apply to each license type. Strong knowledge and use of MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Access and MS SharePoint. Ability to use financial and other systems to create purchase orders and run reports. Strong analytical skills, data collection and analysis. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills.

 

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field required. 5 – 7 years of experience in license reporting and management required.
