    Overview & Responsibilities

    Rackspace is seeking a Google Cloud Solution Architect to join our growing team full time onsite or Remote Work from Home for exceptional candidates. 

     

    Rackspace’s recently formed Managed Services for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) team are looking to hire deeply technical cloud architects with experience of using and architecting with AWS, OpenStack or GCP. This role requires time spent working on both large or complex customer engagements, and helping to research and develop the best practices/standards and automation for broader use across Rackspace’s GCP customers.

     

    A successful candidate would work with leading-edge technology and people in the managed cloud space to define and develop supportable architectures (both solution specific and reference), drive supportability and cost optimization practices across the organization. The Senior Solutions Architect would represent Rackspace by publishing blog / whitepaper content and speaking at relevant industry events, whilst also serving as an internal GCP ‘evangelist’ and mentor to fellow Rackers.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED SKILLS: 

    • Strong written and verbal communications skills
    • Ability to present technical concepts in clear manner to customers through demos, proposals & presentations
    • Strong presentation skills
    • Solid problem-solving abilities coupled with a desire to take on responsibility
    • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders at various business levels
    • Ability to resolve complex technical problems at a pre- or post-sales level, working with either sales or support personnel
    • Demonstrated, strong analysis capabilities and technical knowledge by providing innovative, supportable technical solutions
    • Drive to continually expand knowledge in the areas of new technological developments and trends
    • Attention to detail in documenting information and ability to show ownership of follow through in customer resolutions
    • Expertise in OS, networking and cloud architecture fundamentals
    • Expertise in the AWS, OpenStack or GCP Product set and their design/usage 

    DESIRABLE SKILLS:

    • Public profile or proven record of public speaking at relevant tech events
    • Desire and ability to write blog or whitepaper content on relevant technical subjects
    • General knowledge of areas of business operations beyond IT

    EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION: 

    • Requires a high school diploma/GED
    • 8- 10 years in progressively more responsible roles in either solutions architecture, support or IT professional services.
    • 2-5 years experience working explicitly in or with cloud technologies
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred. 
    • Must get Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Certified within the first 6 months of being hired.
