  • Overview & Responsibilities

    Design and Build is seeking a technical project manager who will lead, plan and execute highly complex engineering programs relating to network and data center development activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for defining the project from a business need, create momentum and project acceptance. Create an environment and a process by which the project will be successfully delivered. Enhance and embrace accepted PM methods, procedures and quality objectives. Develop and control time, project plans and budget. This will require you to manage with all organizational levels and groups including network operations, network engineering staff, data center leadership and internal project management teams, as well as external vendors.


    • Develop and manage project schedules
    • Identify risks and clearly communicate them to project stakeholders
    • Define problem solving and risk mitigation strategies
    • Facilitate conflict resolution through the full project cycle
    • Takes projects from original concept through final implementation.
    • Coordinates internal Rackspace department resource activites while managing projects


    The ideal candidate will have the following:

    • A proven track record of project completion that is on time and within budget
    • Comprehensive knowledge of executing project plans, managing changes to scope, and establishing project deliverables and WBS
    • Proven ability to lead projects through the project management life cycle
    • Ability to command the intellectual respect of network engineers as well as run extremely effective projects on compressed timelines
    • A strong background in network engineering, network operations or technology deployment is preferred
    • Bachelors degree in an engineering discipline, or Computer Science or equivalent experience required
    • 5+ years of IT PM experience, or equivalent leadership experience.
    • ITIL experience and Project Management Professional certification preferred
