PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY: Communicates with media, key influencers, industry analysts, and vendors to ensure that the company maintains a favorable position. Develops and manages strategic communication programs that incorporate business strategy, product direction, and market position and works with marketing and public relations to properly distribute that information.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY: Advanced knowledge of the company’s business objectives and operations. Advanced time management, communications, decision making, human relations, presentation and organizational skills. Proficient in AP style.
JOB COMPLEXITY: Determines appropriate type of contact for the media, industry analysts, key influencers and vendors. Influences and improves influencers’ view of the company. Develops and manages strategic communication programs that incorporate business strategy, product direction and market position. Collaborates with marketing and public relations departments to ensure the most effective communication programs and strategies. Tracks and updates the most current company information and metrics to ensure that the most updated information is presented. Regularly provides proactive ideas on how to drive awareness of the company's mission, solutions portfolio and competitive differentiators. Provides work assistance to junior public relations specialists.
Key Performance Indicators: Effectively manages complex programs and initiatives (i.e., solution teams) with minimal supervision. Drives strategy and execution for key initiatives such as major product announcements, customer stories and events. Regularly provides proactive ideas to help achieve program goals. Ability to provide tactical and strategic support around highly complex programs and initiatives (i.e., company acquisitions, strategic partnerships, portfolio announcements, etc.)
SUPERVISION: Operates under minimal supervision, with wide latitude for independent judgment.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION: Requires a Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, business or marketing. 4-7 years of experience in public relations is required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: General office environment. May require long periods sitting and viewing a computer monitor. Moderate levels of stress may occur at times. No special physical demands required. Occasional domestic travel, less than 10%.
