  • Overview & Responsibilities

    Dedicated to a complex technical team responsible for engineering, implementing, and documenting complex solutions, provisioning new infrastructure, and being on-call for third level escalations for deployed infrastructure. The Scrum Master for our team works with team leadership to support and shape key strategic initiatives and convert strategic direction into actionable programs. Designs program and tasks within management timelines to create framework for actionable, definable team success. Successfully juggles emerging priorities with long-term initatives to balance committed time lines and integrate last-minute needs. Owns the communication process from the team through to the immediate manager and up through to business owners and executive layers as needed depending on the particular project.

     

    Leads the team in the sprint management process, including making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition, and time-boxing of epics and tasks. Drives efficient and information-dense daily standups. Is the engine of progress for all efforts that are planned efforts or projects for the team. Identifies and removes impediments, prevents distractions, keeps team on task. Facilitates discussion and conflict resolution. Empowers the team to self-organize.

     

    JOB COMPLEXITY: Organizes and facilitates project planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings. Tracks and communicates team velocity and sprint/release progress. Maintains process documentation. Ensures the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.

     

    SUPERVISION: Ability to track and guide team members’ day–to-day tasks with no daily guidance from manager, but with sensitivity and agility to escalate to manager for key issues or impediments that require resolution with other internal groups.

     

    TOOLS – Jira, Smartsheet, Advanced Microsoft Excel

    Qualifications

     

    • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types.
    • Ability to understand technical issues at a high level.
    • Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
    • Thorough understanding of the software development life cycle.
    • Proven ability to work independently with limited supervision and with other department personnel.
    • Must have exceptional communication, organization, and time management skills.
    • Must be self-motivated, as well as creative and efficient in proposing solutions to complex, time-critical problems.
    • Must be collaborative in driving decisions.
    • Ability to deal with multiple projects and deadlines.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail.
    • Requires Bachelor's degree or higher.  MBA or advanced degree preferred.
    • Certified Scrum Master with 3 years of project management experience and up to 1 year of Scrum Master Experience working as part of a Project Management Office is a plus.
